Data Metwork Worldwide

Global players take decentralizedly planned and worldwide installed and administrated networks for granted, as long as a uniform standard is met. The transition of such networks from one area of responsibility to another during running operation requires the observance of many parameters and comprehensive co-ordinating tasks in international environments.

The main task of the directing Global Engineering Management for the internationally working planning group for „Managed-IP-Networks“ was to transfer the data network from the responsibility of Siemens into the responsibility of AT & T. This involved the definition of the company standards to be met internationally in close co-operation with the customer, the evaluation of tools to be used as well as the technical negotiations of international maintenance and repair contracts. Tasks where my rich work experiences abroad came in helpful.

The actual transfer of the data network included the planning of the schedule and the resources necessary for the transition, the piloting, the co-ordination of all connected and to-be-connected branches, personnel management and, last not least, the successful implementation of the global network. Parameters important and mandatory for the implementation were derived from the SLA agreements which had been negotiated with the customer beforehand.
